President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on economic development of Kashkadarya region.

At the beginning of the event, a ceremony of launching 6 new enterprises was held. Representatives of enterprises "Omad start" of Karshi district, «Kitob ip yigiruv» of Karshi city, «Bakht textile» of Dekhkanabad district, as well as enterprises «Oksaroy textile», «Pit stop» and furniture factory in Shakhrisabz city presented information about these production facilities via video link.

The President pushed the symbolic button of launching and officially put the new enterprises into operation.

The first item on the agenda of the meeting was a discussion of measures to improve the energy supply in the region.

This year the power consumption in the region is expected to be 6.9 billion kilowatt-hours and the shortage may amount to 310 million kilowatt-hours. In connection with this, a separate decree was adopted and work has begun to provide the missing volumes with excess.

In particular, it is planned to launch 3 solar power plants in Nishan and Chirakchi districts. Solar panels with a total capacity of 76 MW can be installed on public institutions, enterprises and homes. It is planned to upgrade power lines and replace devices with high-energy consumption. In addition, a 6-frequency control device will be installed on the pumping stations of the Karshi Main Canal, which consume 2.2 billion kilowatt-hours per year.

It enables to save 50 million kilowatt-hours of electricity this year and 175 million kilowatt-hours beginning next year.

The main issue at the meeting was the development of industry, support of entrepreneurship and home-based work.

Over the past five years, Kashkadarya has attracted $10 billion investments. The number of entrepreneurs has increased 2.5 times; 325 thousand additional permanent jobs have been created. Production in 8 districts with weak industrialization has increased 2-3 times; their share in the regional industrial production has reached 36%.

In 2023, it is planned to attract $1.5 billion of investments to the region and provide jobs for 440 thousand residents.

The President paid special attention to the issue of employment and pointed out the opportunities in this direction.

In particular, more than 6 thousand residents in 80 makhallas of the region are engaged in home-based work. The decree signed by the President of Uzbekistan will create many opportunities for them. Thus, the entrepreneurs will be provided preferential loans up to 2 million Uzbek soums and interest free loan up to one million Uzbek soums for each employed homemaker. Those who work at home will be allowed to register as self-employed and work free of taxes. Low-income citizens hired as home workers will be paid a social allowance for six months. A subsidy of up to 9 million Uzbek soums will be provided for the purchase of equipment and raw materials. Taxes on profit and turnover, the size of rent of state property for those entrepreneurs and clusters, which will attract home-stay workers, will be reduced twofold.

Due to these measures, home-based employment can be obtained for 20 thousand more residents of 150 makhallas of Kashkadarya.

It was emphasized that the clusters should be active in solving the issues of employment and social sphere in the makhallas. 

Tasks on improvement of water supply, employment of 10 thousand people in Dekhkanabad, Yakkabag, Shakhrisabz and Nishan districts, fish catching in 5 thousand hectares of water bodies of Mirishkar district were determined.

It was commissioned to implement 50 projects and create 2 thousand jobs in the industrial zones. In addition, the need to attract and support entrepreneurs in the implementation of «growth points» on the ground was emphasized.

“It is necessary to turn potential into projects and projects into jobs in every district”, said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The underutilization of tourism potential of Shakhrisabz, Kitab, Kamashin and Yakkabag districts was pointed out. In this regard, a task was set to increase the number of visitors by installing an electric train on the route «Shakhrisabz – Karshi – Samarkand». This will be an additional impetus for development of tourism, trade and services.
