On February 23, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan, Co-Chair of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission Mikayil Jabbarov, who had arrived in Uzbekistan as the head of the Azerbaijani delegation to participate in the first meeting of a joint Forum of Regions and the meeting of the Business Council.

The issues of practical implementing the agreements reached at the summit level were considered.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov conveyed to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev the sincere greetings and best wishes of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Following the talks, the progress in implementation of cooperation projects in automotive industry, textile industry and silkworm breeding was noted with particular satisfaction. An agreement on creation of a joint investment fund is being signed. Prospective projects in the oil and gas, transport and logistics sectors are being developed.

The importance of further expanding the practical cooperation portfolio between the two countries, particularly as part of the ongoing localization program, was emphasized.
