On February 8, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the progress of creative work on Tashkent Metropolitan.
It is a great pleasure for a person to see the results of his work, to help people with useful deeds. A large-scale work is being carried out in our country to meet people’s needs, to make distances shorter.
For instance, huge projects have been implemented in the field of public transport in recent years. The first stage of the overground line of Tashkent Metropolitan was launched in August 2020. In December of the same year, the Sergeli line was opened. Today’s indicators of the passenger flow confirm that these projects have fully paid off.
The work in this direction is being consistently carried out - another line is being built from Kuyluk to Sergeli, which will connect the two lines. The construction of seven stations is envisaged on this section, with a length of about 12 kilometers. Currently, five stations have been completed up to the «Stroiteley» avenue.
The President visited the new line. In his conversation with elderly and public representatives, he emphasized the importance of this project.
«Over the recent years, we have gained experience in this field as well. We have constructed seven stations in Kuyluk direction and five stations in Sergeli. Previously, 240 thousand passengers used Tashkent Metropolitan, but today their number has exceeded 600 thousand. Our plan is to reach one million passengers. If we had not started this in due course, the urban transport could have collapsed. Now, we need to work on alternative energy as well», Shavkat Mirziyoyev has said.
The President took the subway ride with representatives of the public.
In the coming months, a four-kilometer section of the line from «Stroiteley» avenue to «Kipchok» will also be put into operation. Thus, the travel time between Kuyluk and Sergeli will be 15 minutes. The line will have the capacity to carry around 40,000 passengers a day.
The use of personal vehicles and traffics on the roads are expected to be reduced accordingly. In particular, the daily traffic flow on the Kuyluk-Sergeli route can be reduced to 40 thousand, and the traffic on the roads can be reduced by 12%.
In general, with the completion of this phase, the total length of Tashkent Metropolitan will be over 70 kilometers and the number of stations will reach 50. The daily passenger traffic will reach 650 thousand people. A total of 245 new jobs will be created.
