Tashkent, January 30. As is tradition, a broad public has gathered at the Scientific and Enlightenment Memorial Complex named after the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov, on this day.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid a visit to the complex. He laid flowers at the monument to Islam Karimov.

The representatives of the Oliy Majlis, the Presidential Administration and the government, as well as figures of science and culture and the intelligentsia have also paid a tribute to the memory of the First President of Uzbekistan.

Preserving the memory of the selfless sons of the nation, honoring their good deeds are our national values. They serve as an example and a guideline for the future generations.

Today's ceremony has become an embodiment of such a high respect as well. The verses from the Holy Quran were read and du'ahs were recited. The historical merits of the First President for the sake and interests of our nation and his noble human qualities were spoken about.

The President got acquainted with the course of works on the establishment of Islam Karimov museum within the complex.

The ceremonies of laying flowers at the monuments of Islam Karimov were also held in Samarkand and Karshi.
