On December 14, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has become acquainted with the presentation of proposals for the transformation of the joint-stock company «Uzbekistan Airways».

The presidential resolution of April 30, 2021 defines the tasks for transforming civil aviation enterprises. The advanced foreign experience is being studied, and expert consultants are being attracted as part of this process.

Particularly, in order to reform «Uzbekistan airways», the interaction has been established with the team of Turkish specialist Ilker Ayci, a former Chairman of «Turkish Airlines», under whose leadership the company has evolved from a regional to a global player in passenger airline market.

Nowadays, Uzbekistan airways has similar tasks. It is planned to turn our country into an international transport hub, effectively using its geographic location and aviation infrastructure.

During the presentation, the President was informed about developed transformation strategy and expansion of national air carrier.

In accordance with this strategy, the measures on introducing corporate governance system, based on international experience, increasing the number of aircraft, improving service quality and expanding cargo transportation network will be undertaken. By attracting foreign investors on the basis of international standards, the privatization of airline will be completed.

The main goal is to turn «Uzbekistan airways» into a leading regional airline, as well as to ensure affordable flights for the population on domestic and international routes.

The president approved these plans and stressed that they must be implemented as soon as possible.

«We are behind in this area for ten years. The airline operates in the old way, and passengers are dissatisfied with service quality. This is our only way if we want to develop our economy and tourism», Shavkat Mirziyoyev has said.

The recommendations on creating a project office in the airline and coordinating the transformation processes were given.
