President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was informed about the current state and further perspectives for the implementation of large-scale regional railway infrastructure projects.
It is very important for our country to diversify the transport routes for quick and unrestricted global market access. The President constantly raises this issue at international events and initiates practical solutions. Thanks to the agreements reached with the foreign partners, a work on projects is accelerating.
One of them is the construction of the 454-kilometer Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway. As it is known, on September 14 this year, a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding on this project has been signed in Samarkand. In November, a field research was held by the First Design and Research Institute of China.
During the report, the responsible officials spoke about the planned work. In particular, a project office will be established in Bishkek. The forms and line of project management were being discussed. The negotiations will be held with the international financial organizations. In general, by June 1, it is planned to prepare a feasibility study for the project.
Another regional project is the Termez- Mazār-i-Sharīf -Kabul-Peshawar railway. It also shows significant progress, despite the difficult situation in Afghanistan.
In particular, this summer a research expedition was organized from the city of Mazār-i-Sharīf in Afghanistan to the city of Torkham in Pakistan.
It was noted that 765 kilometers of railways are expected to be built as part of the project. Next year it is planned to create a project office, to attract an international consulting company, and to hold negotiations with investors. Following the outcomes, a feasibility study of the project will be prepared.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved these plans and instructed to develop road maps in cooperation with partner countries.
The construction of these railway lines will diversify transport communications and multiply Uzbekistan’s logistics capabilities.
