The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of proposals on effective organization of the national project «Yashil makon» (‘A Green Space’) and optimization of forestry management.
Last year, the national project «Yashil makon» was launched on the initiative of the President to increase the area of green spaces. It was decided to plant 200 million trees and bushes annually within the framework of the project. The aim is to increase the green areas from current 8 % to 30 %.
Over a short period of time, 535 hectares of forest plantations and 638 hectares of public parks have been created in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and in the regions. Under the State Forestry Committee, the state unitary enterprise «Yashil Hudud» (‘A Green Area’) was established and provided with the necessary equipment.
The analysis of an environmental situation in our country and performed work indicate the need for further expansion of this movement. In particular, atmospheric air pollution by various chemicals and heavy metals is increasing. There is no clear distinction between the tasks of the State Committee of Forestry and khokimiyats (governor’s offices) on planting the seedlings and caring for them.
In this regard, it is proposed to identify the State Committee of Forestry as the only organization, which is responsible for this activity. An enterprise «Yashil Hudud» will be proposed to create gardens and public parks, take care of trees and upkeep them for 3 years.
There are also measures to identify and design land for planting trees, increase the number of tree nurseries, the introduction of water-saving technologies, the purchase of special equipment for forestry.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, having emphasized the importance of these activities for the national ecology and the health of our people, instructed to refine and expand the proposed measures.
