On November 10-11 this year, Samarkand will host the Summit of the Heads of Member-States of the Organization of Turkic States.
The event, which will be chaired by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, will be attended by the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov and Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban.
The heads of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TURKPA), the International Turkic Academy and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation, as well as the secretariat of this multilateral structure are also expected to attend the events.
The agenda of the Summit included the issues of further developing mutually beneficial and multifaceted cooperation, including in the economy, trade, investment, transport, innovation, ecology, tourism, cultural and humanitarian exchange, as well as improving the activities of the Organization, which is in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Following the Summit, it is planned to adopt the Samarkand Declaration, as well as other important decisions and documents aimed at enhancing practical cooperation as a part of the Organization of Turkic States.
