President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has got acquainted with the presentation of suggestions on developing training and scientific research in the field of physical culture and sports.
Owing to created conditions in our country, sport is becoming more and more popular among the population. An increasing number of young people are constantly doing sports, and the majority is choosing sports as a profession. National professional athletes have achieved great success at international competitions.
The President pays a particular attention to healthy lifestyle, youth employment, and Olympic and Paralympic Movement. Therefore, the responsible officials and specialists have been tasked to develop sports education and implement scientific approaches.
During the presentation, plans and recommendations regarding this direction were considered. They involve three important aspects: improving education quality in the Uzbek State University of Physical Culture and Sports and in its branches in Nukus and Fergana, improving management system in educational sports institutions, improving scientific research system in the field.
It was noted that starting from 2023-2024 academic years, educational programs will be formed on the basis of leading foreign universities' programs. Qualification requirements for all bachelor's and master's degree programs will be revised, competency certification will be carried out to assess the knowledge, skills and teaching proficiency of graduates and teachers.
The decision to close currently irrelevant five bachelor's degree programs and open two new master's degree programs has been made. Experienced specialists of federations and foreign experts will be involved in teaching and training process.
The applicants with honorary degrees and qualification category or winners of prestigious international tournaments will be exempted from the requirement to take a professional exam. To stimulate students, a state scholarship named after Pahlavon Mahmud will be established in the field of physical education and sports. The best graduates will be awarded the qualification categories of sports referee and coach of the second grade.
In order to strengthen the relationship between education and science, a unified supervisory board is planned to be established. This council will help effectively organize management, teaching and methodological, research and spiritual-educational activities of sports institutions.
Moreover, the aims have been set to increase the scientific potential of the University of Physical Culture and Sport up to 45 percent, to boost the effectiveness of teaching staff, to introduce new developments and technologies and to be included in international rankings.
The Research Institute of Physical Culture and Sports has been tasked to conduct research in the field of sports biomechanics, physiology, pharmacology and genetics, to transfer and commercialize the results of scientific and innovative activities, to implement start-up projects.
Besides, it is planned to promote and improve the efficiency of scientific research, to assign young specialists to get a PhD degree in foreign educational institutions.
As it is well-known, an Olympic Town is being built in Yashnabad District of the capital. After Asian Games, this complex will accommodate the Ministry of Sports Development, sports federations and State Academy of Sports of Uzbekistan, which will be open in 2025.
The President has approved these suggestions and gave further instructions.
