The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held negotiations in an extended format with the participation of a diplomatic delegation of the two countries.
The President noted with great satisfaction the sustainable expansion and progress in all spheres of multifaceted and mutually beneficial Uzbek-Turkmen cooperation.
«The Uzbek and Turkmen peoples have lived side by side for a thousand years and have always supported each other», Shavkat Mirziyoyev has said.
This is the sixth time over the last months when the leaders of two states have met - it is a bright indicator of special relations between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
The President of our country pointed out the great merit of the Chairman of Khalk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in forming a solid foundation for the current rapidly developing Uzbek-Turkmen cooperation.
It has been emphasized that the economy is the engine of bilateral relations and it is necessary to make more efforts to use the enormous potential of our countries. Thus, in recent years, mutual trade has achieved high growth rates.
It has been noted that the Uzbek-Turkmen border trade zone, which is going to be launched at the initiative of the Presidents of the two countries, is expected to stimulate further consolidation of contacts among businesspeople, and to facilitate the creation of new jobs in the regions.
The leaders paid a particular attention to the development of cooperation projects. An agreement was reached on intensifying the formation and implementation of new projects in such priority sectors as industry, energy, chemical industry and agriculture.
Transport sphere is defined as one of the strategic directions of interaction. The Presidents agreed to actively develop East-West and North-South corridors, including using the facilities of Turkmenbashi port.
The level of interaction between the two countries in a water sector was noted with satisfaction. The sides jointly ensure full implementation of the Agreement on the Amudarya River signed in Tashkent.
Further enhancement of interregional ties and strengthening of cultural and humanitarian cooperation are among the priorities. The Presidents reaffirmed the need to intensify cooperation in science, education, art, cinema and tourism.
During the next year, there will be reciprocal Days of Culture and Cinema and youth festivals with the broad involvement of all regions of our countries.
The signing of a Declaration on deepening our strategic partnership will be an important factor in achieving our goals.
«We are confident that our joint efforts will consolidate friendship and good neighborliness, prosperity of the two countries», the President of Uzbekistan has stated concluding the negotiations.
