On October 6, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Syrdarya Region to get acquainted with the agricultural sector and the living conditions of the population.

This year cotton has been grown on 75 thousand hectares in this region. These days, almost 80 thousand hectares are being planted with grain crops.

The President visited farm fields «Arslan Bobo» and «Omonboy Ugli Tugal» in Syrdarya Region.

The farm «Arslon bobo» currently cultivates 90 hectares of land and this year it has harvested 80 centners of grain per hectare. Cotton harvesting is currently in full swing. Besides, potatoes, mungbean, carrots, onions and other re-crops are grown and supplied to the market.

The farm «Omonboy Ugli Tugal» cultivates 62 hectares of land. Besides, the grain yield is more than 80 centners per hectare on this farm. Based on the number of cotton bolls on the bushes and the progress of harvesting, the cotton harvest is also satisfactory.

As a result of laser land leveling, 30-40% of water has been saved and irrigation time has been reduced in these neighboring farms. The pumps are powered by solar panels. As part of the nationwide project «Yashil Makon» (‘A Green Area’), mulberry, willow and other trees have been planted along the perimeter of the fields.

The President has spoken with farmers and the elderly of Syrdarya Region.

«I have come here to see you, to wish you success in your work. If it is estimated objectively, we can say that Syrdarya is undergoing changes, as well. But time flies so fast that people's demands exceed the reforms. It is necessary to develop new plans to create appropriate conditions to meet people's demands. Today I came not only to express my gratitude to dear inhabitants of Syrdarya, but also to identify the necessary directions of work for further development of districts, to improve the well-being of people.

Farmers have mentioned the expanded opportunities in agricultural sector, which has become more profitable, as well as the elimination of forced labor, additional types of manufactured products.

Land is a source of prosperity of our people. Previously, it was considered a crime to grow anything other than cotton, even on a hectare of cotton field; anyone who planted re-crops was persecuted. Today we have allocated 80 thousand hectares of cotton and grain fields to the population and we will allocate additional hectares. In fact, grown production of these fields will also serve our people: it will be sold on the market, it will be beneficial for families. Today, heads of the republican level and khokims (‘governors’) have suggested that if we allocate another 7.5 thousand hectares, we can completely eliminate unemployment in Syrdarya Region. I completely support the idea», the President has said.

The President also have spoken with young people engaged in farming. Each of them has received 0.5 hectares of land on this farm, where they grow mung beans, carrots, onions, and garlic. They have told about their plans to enroll in university, as well as to improve their households thanks to their income. 

The President also visited the farm field «Shukronalik Mujizalari» in Saykhunabad District.

The total area of the farm is 70 hectares. This year, cotton is grown on 25 hectares and grain is cultivated on 45 hectares. The yield is high.

In our country, priority is given to the most profitable crops. This approach gives good results in agriculture. This farm also benefits from the land released from cotton. In particular, mungbean has been planted on 45 hectares as a second crop this year.

A meeting with representatives and responsible officials of the agrarian sector also took place here. The President emphasized the need to increase yields by using innovations and better varieties, the rational use and accounting of water. An instruction was given to improve the living conditions of farmers and workers, in particular to build small affordable houses for them.
