On September 15, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, who is in Samarkand as a guest of honor at the SCO Summit.
The President of Turkmenistan expressed sincere gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for the invitation and warm hospitality extended on a brotherly Uzbek land. He conveyed the greetings from the Chairman of the Khalq Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh (‘National Council’) of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimukhamedov.
The distinguished guest particularly emphasized the large-scale construction work carried out in Samarkand under the personal leadership of the President of Uzbekistan.
The Presidents noted with satisfaction that the traditionally close Uzbek-Turkmen relations of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership have reached a qualitatively new level in recent years, as well as filled with the specific practical content.
A special attention was paid to the steadily growing trade volume, which has increased by 10% since the beginning of the year. The joint cooperation projects are being implemented in the areas of logistics, industry, agriculture and water management. The regional cooperation and cultural and humanitarian exchanges are expanding.
