On September 15, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held the negotiations with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
At the beginning of the conversation, the leader of Tajikistan highly appreciated the Uzbekistan’s chairmanship in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and especially noted the huge transformations that have taken place under the leadership of our President in the city of Samarkand.
It has been stressed that the results of the Samarkand Summit will undoubtedly ensure further strengthening of multilateral cooperation as a part of the Organization and increase the SCO’s authority in the international arena.
The Presidents noted with satisfaction the progressive expansion and deepening of relations of friendship and good neighborliness, strategic partnership and alliance between the two fraternal countries.
Since the beginning of the year, the volume of mutual trade has grown by 16%. The joint cooperation projects are being implemented in various sectors of the economy, including light and electrical industries, agriculture and water management, transport and others.
The Presidents stressed the importance of starting the practical implementation of the Yavanskaya HPP construction project, which meets the interests of the two countries and the entire region.
The interregional and cultural-humanitarian cooperation is actively developing.
The leaders of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan also exchanged views on the topical regional and international issues.
