On July 4, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of the European Council Charles Michel.
The issues of further expansion of the Uzbek-European multifaceted and mutually beneficial cooperation were considered.
At the beginning of the conversation, the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his sincere gratitude for the all-round assistance provided in carrying out the irreversible democratic and socio-economic transformations in the New Uzbekistan.
In turn, the President of the European Council supported the efforts of the Uzbek Leader to continue the course of transparent reforms in the country aimed at the formation of a strong civil society and the rule of law.
In this context, the inadmissibility of destabilization of the situation in Karakalpakstan by the certain destructive forces was underscored. Charles Michel asked to convey his condolences to the families and relatives of the victims of the riots organized by the criminals.
During the conversation, special attention was paid to the issue of finalization of the Agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EU.
The importance of increasing mutual trade and investment is emphasized, taking advantage of the «General System of Preferences Plus».
The parties highlighted the issues of promoting specific programs and projects of practical cooperation, primarily in the field of «green economy», digitalization, innovation, logistics, agriculture, ecology, education and healthcare.
There was an exchange of views on the emerging situation in the Central Asian region and further improving the level of multilateral dialogue with the EU.
The sides also supported the organization of major international events in our country aimed at strengthening connectivity, as well as ensuring security and stability in the region, especially promoting durable peace and providing all possible assistance to the people of Afghanistan.
