President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President Emomali Rahmon visited the Khiva carpet factory.

The enterprise, worth almost $22 million, was established by “Sam-Antep-Gilam”, a Samarkand-based company, in 2020. The second phase of the project started last year. The plant has equipment from Germany, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France and Turkey. Four-hundred and twenty jobs have been created.

The carpets, polypropylene thread and other products are manufactured here. They are exported to the United States, Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan.

This year, the third stage has been implemented - the production of yarn from acrylic fibers was launched. As a result, the production capacity has reached 2.2 million square meters per year. It is expected that 45% of the products will be shipped abroad and the annual exports shall exceed $7 million.

The Presidents were acquainted with the production process and the showroom of the enterprise.

The presentation of industrial goods of Uzbekistan was also held here. The responsible officials of related industries of the two countries were instructed to exchange expertise and develop trade.
