The new road and interchange were put into operation in Tashkent on the days of the Holy Month of Ramadan – the Eid al-Fitr.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with these transport infrastructure facilities on May 3.

The construction process began in August 2020. The six-lane highway with a length of 6,5 kilometers and an interchange with 6 exits were built as part of the project. As a result, an effective connection of Kipchak Street, Sergeli District, with Chuponota and Usman Nosir Streets, Yakkasaray District was achieved.

Prior to this, the drivers traveling from the Sergeli District to the city center mainly used one road - Yangi Sergeli Street. This road, designed to pass 4 thousand cars per hour, was actually used several times more than its capacity, long traffic jams formed on it in the mornings and evenings.

The new road has a capacity of up to 12,000 vehicles per hour. This will eliminate the problem of road congestion and create greater convenience for the residents of the capital city.

The junctions, ramps and exits are intelligently designed and connected to existing roads without traffic lights. As a result, vehicles can merge into the stream without stopping.

As it is well-known, a nationwide project «Yashil Makon» («A Green Area») is being implemented in our country. It is aimed not only at planting trees, but also at preserving the environment. As a result of the opening of the new road, the harmful emissions will be reduced threefold.

Along the road, the energy-saving lamps and supports for the grapevines were installed. The green areas have been created on free plots, the sidewalks and bicycle paths have been laid.

The presentation of proposals for the construction of roads in Tashkent and improvement of the city’s transport system was also held here. In continuation of the road opened today, a project was approved for the construction of a 6-kilometer track to the ring road by passing the Sergeli District.

The President has noted the need to pay more attention to improving the capacity of roads.

- «Not everywhere you can build or expand the road. Much depends on the correct organization of the movement. It is necessary to create convenience for the population through improving digitalization, increasing the capacity of roads, intersections», - Shavkat Mirziyoyev has said.

The President has had a conversation with the elderly and the public.

«According to our national values, building roads and bridges is a good deed. It is gratifying that this road, which bringing people together, is opening on these festive days. Previously, no one has ever believed when it was said that 10 houses could be built in Sergeli. About 800 apartment buildings have been built in the Sergeli and Yangikhayot districts, and about 100,000 people have received housing over the past five years. By now, the roads are developing. Now we have consulted with experts on further projects. We will be able to realize them with our hard work, in peace and tranquility», - the President has said.
