On June 15, 2018, on the holiday of Eid al-Fitr, the President laid the first stone in the foundation of the Center of Islamic Civilization. Today, the President visited the complex once again – at 0ne of the days of the holy Ramadan.
The Center impresses with both scale and substance. Its construction has been going on for almost four years. The complex has three floors and is built in the image of the ancient historical monuments of our people. In the center of the building is a huge dome with symmetrical facades on four sides. Currently the finishing work is underway.
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev examined the work carried out. The decor feature and warm tints as if it were in the ancient madrasahs were used in the design of the building.
The President has highlighted the need to pay a special attention not only to the quality construction of the complex, but also to its content.
“It was not in vain that we came here today, on Friday, in the holy month of Ramadan. What was conceived in this bright month comes true. In recent years, we have gone through severe trials. However, the work did not stop here. Why are we building this? To broaden our horizons, strengthen the pride of our people, show on material evidence what a great people we are”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev has noted.
It was noted that the Center of Islamic Civilization will reflect the spiritual and educational power of our people.
“Last year, we have opened the Uzbekistan GTL plant in Kashkadarya and showed the world the economic strength of our country. In addition, this Center shall remain a symbol of the spiritual and educational power of our people”, the President has said.
The President got acquainted with the samples of decorations and inscriptions on the walls. He has noted the expediency of inscribing the ayahs (the holy Koranic verses) at the top of the gate calling for peace, knowledge and educatedness.
The information about the constituent parts of the Center of Islamic Civilization is presented. On the first floor, there will be a museum warehouse, premises for the storage and restoration of ancient manuscripts and artifacts, a publishing house and bookstores.
The second floor will have the main exhibition area of the complex. The Museum of the History of Islam will consist of 9 sections. In the center of the building, under a 65-meter dome, there will be the Quran of Usman - the Pearl of the Islamic world. The remaining 8 sections will be placed around this hall – «Central Asia in the pre-Islamic period», «The Spread of Islam in Central Asia», «Education», «Science», «Architecture and Urban Planning», «Arts and Crafts», «Traditions» and «Third Renaissance - New Uzbekistan».
Also on this floor, there will be a conference hall for 550 seats.
The President visited the «Science» section, gave recommendations on the wide and effective promotion of the legacy of the great ancestors-scientists.
The President went up to the third floor and reviewed the construction of the library, scientific departments and administrative premises of the Islamic Academy.
