In his speech President Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated the brotherly people of the two countries on the Navruz holiday and the upcoming Holy month of Ramadan, stressed the commonality of their history and modern development.
«Our countries, located at the crossroads of the Great Silk Road, have been famous since the ancient times as major connecting nodes of trade routes between Asia, Europe and Africa. Despite the fact that today the fraternal Turkish people live thousands of kilometers away from Uzbekistan, we are closely connected by the proximity of languages and spiritual values. We have the same historical roots, common hopes and aspirations», the President of Uzbekistan has said.
The dynamic development of trade and investment relations between Uzbekistan and Turkey was noted with satisfaction.
The volume of bilateral trade has increased to 2,5 times, and the number of joint ventures has grown 5 times in recent years. The volume of the Turkish investments in Uzbekistan has increased 70 times.
The Top-Level Strategic Cooperation Council makes a major contribution to the development of friendly ties and practical interactions. Today’s meeting has once again opened up a new page in the history of partnerships between the two countries.
«Considering the current high level of relations between our countries, we have agreed to upgrade their status to a comprehensive strategic partnership», said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
During the talks, the issues of political, inter-parliamentary, trade and economic cooperation, including in the field of investment, transport, textile industry, energy, agriculture, healthcare, cultural and humanitarian exchanges were discussed in detail. A joint «Road Map» shall be developed for a full implementation of all of the reached agreements.
There is a keen interest in establishing close cooperation in the development of a public-private partnership mechanism.
Last year, the Days of Culture of Uzbekistan took place in Ankara and Istanbul. It is planned to organize the Days of Turkish Culture in Tashkent and Samarkand in this year.
The interest in learning the Turkish language is growing in our country. The Faculty of Turkology of the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies is functioning effectively.
Recently in Tashkent, the work «Dede Korkut» («The Book of My Grandfather Korkut») was published in Uzbek, which is a unique example of the cultural heritage of all Turkic peoples. This most precious book, consisting of dozens of dastans, testifies to the glorious history, courage and wisdom of our ancestors.
The President of Uzbekistan presented an edition of this book to the President of Turkey.
