On March 9 the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran headed by Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani.
The sides discussed the issues of further expansion of the Uzbek-Iranian relations and topical aspects of regional interaction.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ali Shamkhani extended sincere greetings and best wishes of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to the President of Uzbekistan.
The Leader of Uzbekistan has noted with satisfaction the dynamic development of the bilateral cooperation in accordance with the agreements reached at the highest level. The volume of mutual trade is growing and industrial cooperation between the leading enterprises and companies of the two countries is deepening.
Last month, a regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Forum were successfully held in Tehran. It is envisaged to hold a number of other important events.
The practical results of the first meeting of the Joint Security Commission, held today in the city of Tashkent, have been positively assessed.
During the conversation, a special attention was paid to the promotion of projects and programs of partnership in the trade, economic, transport and communication spheres, the continuation of effective cooperation in ensuring regional security, including countering the growing threats of terrorism, extremism, transnational crime and illegal drug trade.
The sides have also exchanged views on the unfolding situation in Afghanistan and on the measures to provide necessary assistance in overcoming the humanitarian crisis in this country.
