The President visited the citizens’ self-governance body at the Beltau aul (‘village’) in the Takhtakupir District of Karakalpakstan.
More than one thousand people live there. The village, 40 kilometers away from the district center, has been transformed after the improvement work carried out here as part of the “Obod Qishloq” (‘Prosperous Village’) program. The buildings of the citizens’ self-governance body, cultural and medical center, the kindergarten were rebuilt. A bathhouse was constructed. The water pipelines have been laid and the potable water supply has been improved. The road coverage was renovated. A pedestrian bridge was built on the Orjap canal, sidewalks and ditches were put in order. The five kilometers of electricity grid have been renovated and a new transformer has been installed.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev viewed the creative work and spoke with the residents.
“We pay a particular attention to Karakalpakstan. The use of great effort and resources in recent years are yielding results. The people put their trust in our path of development. Now we are setting the new goals. All the leaders are in Karakalpakstan. This is the first time in history. They came with their own resources, teams, they are developing the specific projects. We need to restore the former glory of Takhtakupir”, said the President.
The President has emphasized the need to improve the living conditions of women.
“We must build such a society in our country in which the tears of women are not shed,” - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The President has had a dialogue with the newly appointed khokim’s (governor’s) assistants and the youth leaders. They voiced their proposals for addressing the problems at makhallas (the local neighborhood community areas) and providing employment.
