On February 23 the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Muynak.

This is one of the most remote places in our country. The distance to the nearest city - Kungrad - is 100 kilometers, to the center of Karakalpakstan - Nukus - is 200 kilometers. A number of difficulties arise in transport communication.

Therefore, the issues of improving the lives and conditions of Muynak residents, their concerns are under the special attention of the President. The two decrees on the development of this region were adopted and targeted programs were implemented. The President visited Muynak twice - in 2018 and 2019.

In accordance with given instructions to improve the transport communications, the highways were repaired and the Muynak airport was modernized and re-launched.

The air harbor was built in 1947 and designed for servicing small aircrafts. Then the work of the airport was stopped. Today, the reinvigorated airport for the first time received the aircraft of the President of Uzbekistan.

A new terminal capable of handling 50 passengers has been built. The runway and aprons have been repaired. The area around the airport complex was landscaped.

Here the President held a meeting with the elderly, chairpersons of local makhallas (the local neighborhood community areas), assistants of khokims (governors) and the youth of Muynak.

“Over the past five years, we have learned a lot, believed in what previously seemed incredible. On my first visit, I said that culture will begin with Muynak. That is exactly the thing happening at the moment. This airport is a vivid example. Now, an air service will be organized on the Tashkent-Muynak-Nukus route”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

In order to combine the efforts in the development of the Aral Sea Region, each district of Karakalpakstan is assigned to one of the regions. The President explained the reason and significance of this measure.

“Many people only say that the situation in the Aral Sea Region is bad. However, not everyone has seen it personally. Therefore, today I have sent the heads from all over the country here so that they could breathe the air of the Aral Sea, witness the conditions and give a fair assessment. We will allocate considerable funds for the development of Karakalpakstan”, the President said.

The President asked for the opinions of local residents about current problems and upcoming work in Muynak.

“The hardworking, hard-tempered people live here. We have just to create conditions for their work. However, which enterprises to build? What products to produce? What kind of market will it have? There is a reason why air traffic was established. Now it will become easier to transport goods. Therefore, I ask you: tell us about long-standing problems, offer thoughtful and profitable ideas. We must outline exact plans together with you for the next two years,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The representatives of public noted the changes in the region and made suggestions on the topical issues. The President supported them and gave relevant instructions to the officials in charge. The need to develop along with agriculture and the services sector, in particular the provision of tax incentives for the entertainment sector is pointed out. This will serve to develop domestic tourism and create jobs. 

Muynak District is assigned to the Tashkent Region. During the meeting, there was a presentation for the representatives of Muynak about the projects to be implemented in their district by entrepreneurs of the specified region. Thus, it is planned to organize a park in the district. The elderly and children will be sent to sanatoriums and children’s camps. The President has separately dwelt on strengthening the health of the population and noted the need to increase payments and provide housing to doctors who come to work in the region.
