Shavkat Mirziyoyev: ‘Makhalla is the State’s Key Pillar’

18.02.2022

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the life of makhalla (the local neighborhood community area) “Dustlik” at the Yangikhayot District.

There are 11 multi-apartment buildings and more than 4,000 people live here. The makhalla has a vocational college, a pre-school education institution, pharmacies, shops and consumer services.

In the past, the makhalla was left without proper attention. Last year, it was improved in the framework of the program “Obod Makhalla”. The children’s playground and sports ground were built, the shops and ateliers were opened.

The President inspected the accomplished construction work. He has talked to the chairman of the makhalla and the khokim’s (governor or a mayor) assistant.

“Our people deserve to live in such a comfortable and beautiful environment. This is the purpose of our efforts to organize work in the makhalla section. The makhalla must now have a friendly atmosphere and good neighborly relations. We can hold activities in the spirit of our people’s inherent values,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

A meeting with makhalla activists and the elderly was held in the new building.

- “The makhalla is the state’s key piller. If it is well-organized, the country will be well-run, too. As you can see, the time is hectic. Just as there is no family without disagreements, there is no state without difficulties. We are realizing our plans with patience, hard work and action, relying on science”, the President said.

Based on the new system introduced in the country, khokim’s assistants and youth leaders was also appointed at 30 makhallas at  the Yangikhayot District.

“Before, the people used to go to the khokimiyat (governor’s office) with their problems and write letters. Now there are the representatives of the President at each makhalla. They should study the situation of families, help those who need assistance, organize work on training unemployed people in professions, allocating preferential loans and subsidies,” the President has said.
