The President has gotten acquainted with the tunnel built at the intersection of Bustonsaroy and Rudaki Streets in Samarkand.
These streets are among the busiest in the city. The construction of the tunnel provided convenient traffic and eliminated the congestion. The tunnel is 120 meters long and almost 27 meters wide.
The roads for vehicles and tram tracks, pedestrian and bicycle paths were laid along Rudaki Street. The surrounding area has been landscaped.
The information on further plans to improve the road infrastructure of Samarkand has also been presented.
“In recent years, Samarkand has been developing comprehensively. However, much remains to be done for the convenience and safety of traffic. And here the number of vehicles is increasing every year. However, the roads and traffic lights have hardly changed. Therefore, it is expedient to organize a specialized scientific and practical center that will explore and implement foreign experience, develop proposals on where to expand and where to build the roads, where to remove or install the traffic lights,” the President said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev has also inspected the gallery-type bridge along Bustonsaroy Street built near the tunnel.
Before this, the section of street passing over the Siyob Canal was located low, causing inconvenience to drivers and passengers during heavy rainfall. Therefore, this section has been raised to a height of 23 meters and expanded to 31 meters. The safety barriers and acoustic screens have been installed on both sides of the road. The pedestrian and cycle paths have been laid.
