On February 5 the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Imran Khan in Beijing.
The urgent issues of further development of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan and multifaceted cooperation were discussed.
The first outcomes of the implementation of agreements reached during the visit of the Prime Minister of Pakistan to Uzbekistan in July last year were welcomed.
Thus, the bilateral trade turnover increased to 1.5 times last year and more than 40 joint enterprises were created during the year.
The cooperation projects on the production of pharmaceuticals, chemical goods and textile products are being implemented in various regions of our country. A number of important projects in the industry, education and cinematography are under development.
The interregional contacts are expanding. A delegation from Punjab Province led by the governor Sarwar Chawdhry is visiting our country these days.
During the meeting a special attention was paid to the support of joint business initiatives and prospective investment projects, the establishment of cooperation in the banking and financial spheres.
The views on the regional agenda, including the situation in Afghanistan, were exchanged.
An agreement was reached to continue the practical work to promote a railway construction project «Termez - Mazar-i-Sharif - Kabul – Peshawar».
The schedule of the forthcoming top and high-level contacts was also discussed.
The meeting between the President of Uzbekistan and the Prime Minister of Pakistan was held in a traditionally open, business-like and friendly atmosphere.
