The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping in Beijing on February 5.
The official meeting of the two Presidents was held at the National People’s Congress House in the capital city of China.
At the outset of negotiations, Xi Jinping extended a warm welcome to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and sincerely thanked him for his personal participation at the opening ceremony of Winter Olympics.
In turn, President of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude for the invitation and warm welcome, and cordially congratulated the leadership and friendly people of China on the solemn opening ceremony of Olympic Games, which demonstrated the colossal success and achievements of contemporary China.
The two sides exchanged views on the topical issues of further strengthening the Uzbek-Chinese relations of friendship and all-round strategic partnership, expanding the multifaceted cooperation between the two nations.
The current level of interstate relations built on the principles of good neighborliness, mutual respect and benefit has been marked with profound satisfaction.
The regular top-level contacts have contributed to stirring up of bilateral relations. The trade turnover in 2021 reached a record figure. The total volume of Chinese investments in the economy of Uzbekistan accounted for $9 billion.
The high-tech projects in industry, chemical sector, power engineering, ICT and other priority areas have been implemented with the participation of leading Chinese companies and banks.
A particular attention is paid to unlocking the cooperation potential in the “green” economy, artificial intelligence, digitalization and e-commerce.
A new roadmap for a long-term cooperation with the Silk Road Fund is being formed aimed at promoting the strategic projects of practical cooperation. The program of financial and technical assistance is expanding.
The importance of full-scale implementation of the five-year Program of Trade, Economic and Investment Cooperation signed during this visit was also noted.
A particular attention is paid to the adoption of joint measures to achieve a balanced trade turnover, resumption of productive inter-regional exchanges and development of effective transport corridors.
An agreement was reached on the implementation of joint measures to study and introduce a Chinese experience in fighting poverty and combating corruption.
The extensive opportunities for expansion of the cooperation program in the healthcare, traditional medicine, tourism, education, culture and art were mentioned.
It was agreed to hold regular meetings of the joint Intergovernmental Committee and specialized subcommittees in order to promote important economic and humanitarian projects.
The issues of international and regional agenda, including the promotion of early peace and economic reconstruction in Afghanistan, were also addressed.
President Xi Jinping expressed support for Uzbekistan’s chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization this year.
In conclusion, Shavkat Mirziyoyev has congratulated the President of China on the New Year according to lunar calendar and sincerely wished a successful holding of Winter Olympics.
