On February 4-5 this year the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will visit Beijing at the invitation of the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping to participate in the Opening Ceremony of the XXIV Winter Olympic Games.

For the first time in the world history of sports, the capital city of China hosts both Olympic Games - the XXIX Summer Olympic Games also took place in Beijing in 2008. 

At the current games, which will be held from February 4 to February 20, in strict accordance with quarantine measures, 109 sets of medals in 15 sports disciplines will be contested. Over 4,000 athletes from over 90 countries, including Uzbekistan, will compete for these medals.

The Opening Ceremony of the Olympics Games will be held on February 4 at the Beijing National Stadium “A Bird’s Nest” with the participation of the leaders of countries and official delegations, heads of leading international organizations.

The President of Uzbekistan will also have a number of bilateral meetings as part of his visit, according to the agenda.
