On January 20, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev had a telephone conversation.
The Presidents considered the topical aspects of bilateral agenda and regional cooperation.
The Presidents were pleased to note the current pace of the Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan political relations, improvement of bilateral trade and strengthening of cooperative links, intensification of interregional, cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
In this regard, the Leaders considered the progress of implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Kazakhstan on December 5-6, 2021.
A particular attention was focused on expanding practical cooperation, including the promotion of mutual projects in trade and logistics, engineering, energy, agriculture, chemistry and pharmaceuticals, textile and food industries, as well as the establishment of an International Center for Industrial Cooperation and wholesale distribution centers on the two countries’ territories.
The President has expressed support for the efforts made to stabilize the situation in the country.
The Leaders have also exchanged views on the regional security.
The agenda of forthcoming top-level talks were reviewed. The Presidents discussed the issues to be addressed in this year’s Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Leaders.
The telephone conversation was held in a traditionally open, businesslike and friendly atmosphere.
