On December 9, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the presentation of the projects to be implemented in the Samarkand Region.

The projects are aimed at transforming Samarkand into a modern city, increasing the comfort of the population, the activities of entrepreneurs and investors, and developing the tourism sector.

As it is well-known, Samarkand is expected to become a million-plus city in the next years. To this end, parts of the neighboring areas will be included into the city. The government departments and administrative services will be relocated outside the historical center. The two tunnels and two bridges are planned to be built.

It is planned to employ forty thousand people in the tourist industry, which is the main engine of the Samarkand economy. It is proposed to increase the number of tourism services tenfold in the next five years by transforming the region into a tourist hub of the country. More than six hundred new hotels and guesthouses will be established.

The Samarkand Business and Tourist Center is the largest project in this area. The 212-hectare project will include the International Conference Center, the Caravansary «Eternal City», 8 hotels, recreational and entertainment facilities, a craft center and artificial reservoirs. More than five thousand people will be employed.

In general, it is estimated to increase the number of foreign visitors to the region to five million per year by the proposed projects.

During the presentation, the practical aspects of the projects and measures for qualitative construction of sites  with the modern technological solutions were discussed.
