The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev continued negotiations with the participation of official delegations of the two countries.
The Presidents discussed in detail the prospects of further strengthening the Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation. A priority is attached to expansion of the trade and economic cooperation, including increase of mutual turnover, implementation of joint cooperation projects, interaction in transit and logistics, energy, water and agriculture. The measures to increase the interregional, cultural, and humanitarian exchanges were considered.
In addition, the Presidents exchanged views on the topical issues of the global and regional agenda and interaction through international institutions.
The President of Uzbekistan has stressed that Uzbekistan highly appreciates the particularly warm brotherly relations between the two nations.
«Today we are making a historic decision and developing our cooperation to the level of allied relations. We are determined to further strengthen our centuries-long friendship, good-neighborliness, mutual trust and full partnership. We will use all opportunities and resources to this end. Our goal is to enrich a multifaceted cooperation between the two brotherly countries with concrete content», - Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The Presidents of the two countries expressed their intention to establish the Supreme Interstate Council, a Council of Interparliamentary Cooperation and a Council of Foreign Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan in order to further strengthen strategic partnership.
During the talks, the new «points of growth», the main priorities and objectives of bilateral cooperation were identified.
There is a great potential for significant expansion of the nomenclature and volumes of mutual supplies of in-demand products by replacing imports from third countries. This is confirmed by the dynamic growth in the volume of mutual trade this year, which is expected to reach a record point of $4 billion.
It was noted that there is every possibility to bring this index up to ten billion dollars in the next five years. To this end, the parties agreed to adopt a «Road Map», to develop wholesale and distribution centers and joint agricultural clusters.
The parties stressed the importance of the mutually beneficial partnerships through the creation of new joint ventures in various sectors of the economy. Such spheres as attraction of investments, industrial cooperation, agro-industrial complex, transport and logistics, energy, pharmaceuticals and construction industry were identified as priority areas.
The agreements were reached on realization of particular projects of manufacturing cooperation. There are already successful examples of such interaction in mechanical engineering, power engineering, electrotechnical, chemical, textile and other industries. On the way, there are new major projects in construction, agriculture, pharmacy and other priority areas.
Particularly, a package of promising investment projects valued more than $2 billion was prepared following the business events held the other day.
A Joint International Industrial Cooperation Center will be created to give further impetus to these efforts.
The interregional contacts are becoming a driver for increased interaction. For example, a number of agreements and trade contracts were signed on the outcomes of the recent Forum of Regions.
The heads of the border regions of the two countries were instructed to work together more closely on the mutual product supplies and the development of new cooperation projects.
The transport sector is indicated as an important direction. The volume of road and rail trucking is growing. The air travel between the countries was fully restored and new destinations were opened.
The President of Uzbekistan mentioned the importance of forming the new routes providing access to each other’s and third countries’ markets. The Presidents have agreed to speed up the projects to build the railway and road «Uchkuduk-Kyzylorda», as well as the «Turkestan-Shymkent-Tashkent» high-speed railway.
A rational use of water resources was also noted. To this end, it was agreed to develop the sustainable long-term mechanisms for mutually beneficial cooperation and continue the work of the Joint Working Group on elaboration of proposals on all directions of water relations between the two countries. It was noted that it is necessary to take joint practical measures on accelerated introduction of newest water saving technologies, realization of joint measures on forest plantations in the Aral Sea region.
The parties expressed their intention to cooperate closely in the foreign policy area, promoting mutual interests and regional rapprochement to ensure peace and stability in Central Asia. The Presidents have agreed to work purposefully to improve the format of Consultative Meetings of Central Asian Leaders in order to maximize their potential with strict respect for the interests of all participating states.
The sides also discussed increasing humanitarian exchanges, cooperation in education, science, healthcare, culture and arts, tourism and sports.
The President of Kazakhstan noted that a monument to Alisher Navoi will be erected in Nur-Sultan as a symbol of spiritual community and centuries-long friendship of the two peoples.
