On November 25, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the European Union led by the Vice President of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas.
At the beginning of the meeting, the High Representative of the EU conveyed to the President of Uzbekistan the sincere greetings and best wishes from the President of the European Council Charles Michel and the Head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
The issues of further expansion of multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EU were considered.
The sides have mentioned with satisfaction the intensification of bilateral contacts and interactions, including in the economy, the rule of law, democratic reforms, human rights, security and other priority areas.
This month, the next meeting of the Cooperation Council «Uzbekistan - EU» was successfully held.
The volume of mutual trade is growing dynamically, the large investment projects are being implemented with the involvement of advanced experience and technologies of leading European companies.
The important joint programs are being implemented in the sphere of education, security, combating terrorism and drug trafficking.
A particular attention was paid to the completion of negotiations and the early adoption of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and the EU.
The sides have also exchanged views on the topical issues of the regional agenda.
