On October 13 the candidate for the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the constituents of the Navoiy Region.
The authorized representative of the candidate in the region K.Sanakulov has opened up the meeting.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev made a presentation on his election program.
The program identifies ten areas of action for the comprehensive development of the country, strengthening the rule of law, peace and tranquility. In particular, a five-year plan for the development of districts and cities, villages and makhallas (the local neighborhood areas) and the creation of decent living conditions in the Navoiy Region based on the full use of the huge potential of the region has been developed.
First of all, the measures for vocational training of the population were touched upon. For this, a Polytechnic University will be created on the basis of the Navoiy Mining Institute capable of accepting almost 15,000 students. In total, about 60,000 young people and the unemployed will be trained in crafts and business over the next five years.
The big goals have also been set to create decent living conditions for the population. It is envisioned to build multi-storey buildings for 4,000 apartments in the city of Navoiy and for 14,000 apartments in the districts, the Industrial Town in Zarafshan and the New Uzbekistan block in Karmana based on the experience of the Baghdad District. It is planned to lay more than 1,000 kilometers of potable water supply networks, 5,000 kilometers of electricity networks and 6,000 kilometers of roads in the next five years.
The candidate’s program identifies economic development, job creation and export growth as key priorities. Thus, in the next five years, it is set to implement 2,200 investment projects for $9 billion in the Navoiy Region and create 75,000 new jobs.
Among them are the creation of a gas chemical cluster amounting to $3.4 billion and the commissioning of seven power plants in the amount of about $3 billion.
As a result of the implementation of 120 large-scale projects in the textile industry, 27 thousand new jobs will be created, and in the leather and footwear industry - 13 thousand new jobs as a result of 68 projects. It is envisioned to implement 52 projects in the mining industry, which will provide jobs for more than 7 thousand people.
In general, owing to the capacities that will be commissioned in the next 5 years, the volume of regional exports will grow 6 times up to $900 million.
It is also scheduled to create 70,000 new jobs by supporting entrepreneurship. For this purpose, an assistant of khokim (governor or a mayor) will be assigned to each makhalla, organizational and financial support will be provided to the population. More than 500 billion Uzbek soums will be allocated annually under an umbrella of family entrepreneurship programs.
The problems in agriculture were also touched upon. The plans for laser levelling of sown areas, improvement of water supply, expansion of fruit and vegetable growing and animal husbandry were announced.
The forthcoming measures to build medical and educational institutions and improve the quality of services were also noted.
In general, 40 trillion Uzbek soums will be allocated from the state budget for the economic and social development of the Navoiy Region in the next 5 years, and a total of 180,000 new jobs will be created.
“Today is the time of constant movement, the time of real struggle. In this struggle, we must be among the winners. If we live and work with such confidence, there certainly will be the result. Our Homeland – Uzbekistan must necessarily become one of the most developed countries. In achieving these goals, I, as well as all our people, rely on the people of Navoiy,” - Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
A sincere conversation took place with the participants of the meeting, the constituents who gathered in the district studios. They have expressed their opinion about the possibilities for the development of the region, the problems that exist on the ground. Shavkat Mirziyoyev promised to include in his program and implement the enunciated proposals.
