A Candidate for the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businessmen - the Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with constituents in Surkhandarya on October 8 in the city of Termez.

The event was opened by the candidate’s authorized representative in the Surkhandarya Region A. Eshmuratov. The floor was given to Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

“Surkhan is the cradle of ancient civilizations, a region with a rich history and culture. In the past, it was in this region that states such as Bactria, Tokharistan, Chaghaniyan, such great empires as the Kushan Empire thrived”, - Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

It was noted that today the region is consistently developing, cities, villages and makhallas (local residential communities) are being improved, the standard of living of people is rising.

The candidate presented his election program. It covers ten priority areas: economy, entrepreneurship, agriculture, education, health care, regional development, public administration, rule of law, foreign policy and culture.

Improving the living conditions of the population is defined as a top priority. It is planned to announce 2022-2026 in Surkhandarya as a five-year period for providing clean drinking water and build 1.7 thousand kilometers of water supply networks. A part of this project will be a 361 kilometer main water supply network from the Tupalang Reservoir to Termez.

The measures were also announced to build houses, roads and bridges, and improve the electricity supply.

The fruit and vegetable exports from the region have doubled over the past three years, reaching $100 million. Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that with the use of the entire potential of the region, this figure could be at least $500 million.

Another important area of ​​the candidate’s program is the development of industry, increasing exports and investments. In particular, it is planned to implement 10 megaprojects that will give a powerful impetus to the development of the regional economy, disburse investments worth $5.1 billion within these projects and create 22,000 new jobs.

In general, more than 5,000 investment projects worth $6.6 billion are planned to be implemented in industries over the next five years.

The issues of developing the social sphere, strengthening the health of the population, and fundamentally improving the quality of education were also touched upon. The plans were announced to establish the new family medical centers and family polyclinics, repair medical institutions, increase the capacity of kindergartens and schools, and increase the coverage of higher education from 25 to 50 percent.

In the next five years, it is planned to allocate 50 trillion Uzbek soums for the economic and social development of the Surkhandarya Region and create a total of 320,000 new jobs.

“Over the next five years, we will put all the reforms in our country, including in the Surkhandarya Region, on the basis of a completely new system of “man - society – state”. We will fully use all our capabilities so that the results of the reforms are felt first of all in the life of every person, every family and makhalla,” – Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

A sincere interaction took place with members of the party, voters who gathered in district studio. They spoke about their vision of the future development of the region, put forward proposals for solving local problems, and expressed their support for the candidacy of Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the upcoming presidential elections.
