On September 21 the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will deliver a video message at a high-level general political debate at the 76th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
President will present to the international community his vision of the topical issues of the regional and global agenda, the UN role in a consolidated response to modern threats and challenges, and reveal the essence of deep democratic reforms carried out to build a New Uzbekistan, which have become irreversible.
The speech of the Leader of Uzbekistan, taking into account the topics of discussion, will touch upon the issues of jointly overcoming the socio-economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic based on the principle of «Leaving no one behind» proclaimed by the United Nations.
It is expected that the President will put forward a number of important initiatives to strengthen peace and security, restore the world economy, ensure sustainable development, deepen dialogue in the region and at the global level, promote human rights and freedoms, as well as combat such transnational challenges as climate change, environmental and biodiversity degradation and drying up of the Aral Sea.
It should be noted that all the initiatives put forward in the President’s speech at the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly in September 2020 received a broad support from the world community and are now being implemented in practice.
As part of their implementation, in particular, the measures are supported to effectively counter the pandemic. Uzbekistan has developed a Code on Voluntary Commitments of States during pandemics. Its text was circulated as an official document of the UN General Assembly as a contribution of our country to the global efforts in this direction.
In May 2021 the UN General Assembly adopted a special resolution declaring the Aral Sea region a zone of environmental innovations and technologies. The UN Multi-Partner Human Security Trust Fund for the Aral Sea Region – established under the UN auspices, is productively operating.
Last week, together with UNESCO, the International Cultural Forum «Central Asia at the Crossroads of World Civilizations» was organized in the city of Khiva.
In November 2021 an International Conference is planned in Tashkent on the outcomes of implementation and prospects for interaction in the framework of the Joint Plan of the Central Asian States on the implementation of the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy.
