On September 8 the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

The President has cordially congratulated the President and the brotherly people of Tajikistan on the 30th anniversary of the country’s Independence, expressed sincere wishes for peace, well-being, great success and prosperity.

The topical issues of further expansion of the Uzbek-Tajik multifaceted cooperation, above all in the trade and economic sphere, were discussed.

The Presidents reviewed the preparations for the upcoming meetings of the Council of Heads of States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on September 16-17 this year in Dushanbe and exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan.

The agreement was reached that the Leaders will hold a separate meeting on the issues of the bilateral and regional agenda as a part of the upcoming SCO Summit.
