On September 2 the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Muhammad bin Sulaiman Al-Jasser who is staying in our country as a part of the 46th Annual Meeting of the IsDB Board of Governors in Tashkent.
At the beginning of the meeting, the IsDB Chairman has sincerely congratulated the Head of State and the people of Uzbekistan on the 30th anniversary of the Independence and wished further development and prosperity.
It was noted with satisfaction that these days in our capital city, for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, the most important event of the Bank is being held in face-to-face format.
The high-level forum is attended by the representatives of the governments of the IsDB Member States, the heads of international organizations, business interests and distinguished experts, as well as the media. About 4.5 thousand delegates participate in online and offline formats.
The President of Uzbekistan has once again congratulated Muhammad Al-Jasser on his election as Chairman of the IsDB.
An exchange of views on the further development of bilateral cooperation took place.
The President has highly appreciated the ongoing development of partnership with the IsDB, highlighting its important contribution and support in promoting a new program of large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan.
Today, the portfolio of practical interaction includes 30 projects for more than $2.5 billion, covering the transport, housing and communal infrastructure, energy, agriculture and water management, healthcare, education, entrepreneurship and other priority areas.
During the meeting, a special attention was paid to the prospects for increasing the multifaceted partnerships.
In this context, the importance of the early adoption and implementation of a new cooperation program for 2022-2025 and the launch of a full-fledged representative office of the Bank in Tashkent, increasing the efficiency of financing instruments was emphasized.
It was hoped that the activities of the Fund for Increasing the Economic Opportunities of Uzbekistan will serve as an effective mechanism for supporting private entrepreneurship initiatives, promoting the creation of new jobs and improving the well-being of the population, especially women and the youth.
An agreement was reached to continue close interactions and active contacts in order to develop strategic partnership and full-scale cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IsDB.
