Address
by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the Opening Ceremony of the
«New Uzbekistan» Park and Independence Monument
Dear compatriots!
These days, all of us, our multinational people celebrate with great joy the 30th anniversary of the Independence of our Motherland.
The hardworking and noble people of Uzbekistan have been known for their mastery of constructing great, beautiful cities, inimitable monuments of architecture and culture from ancient times. In addition, today, despite the consequences of pandemic and global economic crisis, it meets this historic date with the worthy labor achievements.
The new enterprises, modern residential areas, scientific, educational, healthcare, cultural and sports institutions, roads and bridges, parks and gardens are being built in all the regions of the country.
Dozens of major projects and social programs aimed at improving the well-being, standard of living and quality of life of the population are being implemented.
In these exciting moments, we participate at another historical event - the opening ceremony of the «New Uzbekistan» Park and the Independence Monument, created in honor of the glorious anniversary of the Motherland.
In May, as you will recall, together with the general public with good hopes, we planted the first seedlings here in the territory of the future park and laid the first stone in the foundation of the complex.
Thanks to the selfless work of our creator people, we managed to quickly break up a beautiful park on this huge territory and erect a monumental complex.
Before the start of construction, we have consulted with historians, representatives of the creative intelligentsia, the older generation and youth, paying special attention to the architectural and artistic solutions of the «Yangi O’zbekiston» (‘the New Uzbekistan’) complex.
For instance, if you look at the park from an aerial view, it resembles a mighty tree with five branches that symbolize the five priority areas of the Action Strategy.
The most modern conditions are being created here for the residents of the capital, Tashkent region, other regions of our country and foreign guests can have a meaningful rest with the whole family and children.
There will be an artificial lake, sports and playgrounds, an amphitheater, fountains, trade and service facilities and rows of artisans on this vast territory.
The decorative trees of rare species and numerous flower beds adorn the park complex and at the same time, they remind the need to conserve and appreciate nature as well as to live in harmony with it.
Based on the modern standards as well as using advanced technologies, the Olympic Complex will be built nearby. The main competitions of Asian Youth Games will be held in our country in 2025.
In addition, a new town is being built, where buildings of a new higher educational institution, medical clinics, international exhibition centers and other facilities will be erected.
There is a beautiful example of monumental art – the majestic monument of Independence in the central part, in other words, in its very heart.
Today, we are widely celebrating the 30th anniversary of Independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan. However, the history of our national statehood has more than 3 thousand years.
This is a universally recognized scientific fact in the world. Сreating the monument, we have tried to reflect this conceptual idea.
As it is well-known, our country has experienced many bright memorable events, various trials and difficulties over its centuries-old history. However, it should be noted that every state entity, which existed on the territory of our Motherland, any social processes, achievements and failures, ups and downs or crises are an integral part of the difficult historical path, which has been traversed by our people. Therefore, it is necessary to learn all the stages of our history in depth, considering them as a whole.
A nation, which draws strength from past victories and achievements, draws lessons from its mistakes, is able to correctly determine its development path and guidance for the future.
From this point of view, we have decided to capture the most important events in the monument – from ancient times to the modern history of Uzbekistan, we tried to reflect our unique cultural and spiritual heritage, immortal images of great generals and warriors, scientists and thinkers, Jadids-enlighteners.
The ambiguous life of Uzbekistan under the totalitarian regime, our people had to endure the hardships in the period of repression, the courage and steadfastness of our people during the World War II were reflected expressively in the sculptural composition of the monument. The main stages of the life of famous statesmen who selflessly served the Motherland in extremely difficult conditions in the name of development, peace and well-being of the country and the people are also presented.
A special attention is paid to the path to national independence, which was carried out under the leadership of the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Islam Abduganievich Karimov.
It is noteworthy that this unique monument was erected in harmony with the idea of creating the foundation of the New Uzbekistan and the Third Renaissance. The appearance of the Independence Monument harmoniously combines the past, present and future.
The blue dome of the Empire of Sakhibkiran Amir Temur stands in front of us in all its splendor as the foundation of our national statehood, the Mirzo Ulugbek Observatory on the background of the starry sky, presenting the most important discoveries of our scientists and thinkers, who made invaluable contributions to the world science and civilization.
The monument is crowned by the outstretched wings of a proud, soaring Humo bird – as our desire for peace and freedom, goodness and well-being.
In a word, the Monument of Independence is a majestic symbol of ancient history and rich culture, humanism, courage and bravery of our people.
In front of the monument, there is a plaque with the inscription: «The eternal memory of the ancestors who left a bright mark in the history of the people, will always live in our hearts».
I must say that a modern international airport is being built next to the «Yangi O’zbekiston» (‘The New Uzbekistan’) Park. In the future, arriving distinguished guests from abroad will pay tribute to our people and state here.
From now on, we will celebrate Navruz, Independence Day, other state holidays, as well as the large-scale cultural events, folk festivals are held in this beautiful place, where all the conditions are available for this.
It should be emphasized that it was not easy to build the «Yangi O’zbekiston» (‘The New Uzbekistan’) park complex in a short time, causing joy and admiration, filling our hearts with a sense of pride, especially in the conditions of pandemic. However, despite all the difficulties, our skilled builders and architects, engineers and gardeners, skilled sculptors and artists, specialists and leaders of various fields, our wonderful youth worked day and night to present this unique complex to the people of Uzbekistan for the holiday.
Taking this opportunity, on behalf of our people and on my own behalf, I would like to express my deep gratitude to all the compatriots and our foreign partners who have contributed to such an important noble endeavor.
Undoubtedly, this complex will become a symbol of love and devotion to the Motherland, a sacred memorial, a unique center of culture and education, a school of education for the younger generation.
I am confident that everyone who visits the «Yangi O’zbekiston» (‘The New Uzbekistan’) Park will be able not only to have a good rest, but also to experience wonderful sublime feelings, get a boost of energy and inspiration by touching the source of great spiritual power.
I congratulate all of you, all our people on the opening of the «Yangi O’zbekiston» (‘The New Uzbekistan’) Park and the Independence Monument.
May our country prosper, may our noble and hardworking people be happy!
Thank you for your attention!
