On August 30 the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov.

At the beginning of the conversation, the Presidents exchanged the heartfelt congratulations on the 30th anniversary of the independence of the two countries, and sincerely wished the brotherly people of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan peace, well-being and prosperity.

The topical issues of further strengthening the Uzbek-Kyrgyz good-neighborly relations and strategic partnership were considered.

A particular attention was paid to the practical implementation of the agreements reached during the Summit meetings in March this year in Tashkent.

The importance of continuing close interactions at the government level in order to effectively promote the specific cooperation projects in the field of industry, agriculture, energy, transport and logistics, as well as programs of tourist, cultural and humanitarian exchange was noted.

The Presidents also discussed the regional agenda, including in the context of the escalation of the situation in neighboring Afghanistan.
