On August 27 President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the «NavoiAzot» Joint-Stock Company. The ceremonial launch of two new nitric acid, ammonia and carbamide plants took place.

The chemical industry is becoming one of the most important drivers of the economy. Formerly, the industry was based on the production of mineral fertilizers for agriculture, and the proportion of such products consisted for about 80%. Nowadays, thanks to the production of the modern polymers, the quantity of mineral fertilizers decreased to 10%, and the amount of another ones grew six times.

During the last five years the volume of production in the system of joint-stock company «Uzkimyosanoat» increased four times, therefore the export of chemical products reached $250 million.

The «NavoiAzot» Joint-Stock Company plays a great role in this. It produces almost the half of all chemical production and nine thousand engineers and technologists are working there.

Previously commissioned nitric acid, ammonia and carbamide production plants will provide the additional impulse to the industry development. The implementation of projects worth $1,5 billion will multiply the production of “Navoiazot” three times – to be more accurate, from $150 million to $410 a year.

This kind of modern complexes equipped with hi-tech facilities, brought to Uzbekistan for the first time, will completely replace the previous 60-year-old ones.  

In particular, the first plant will produce 660 thousand tons of ammonia and 578 thousand tons of carbamide a year. At the same time energy consumption for the production of one tone of ammonia will decrease by 2,5 times.

The second plant will produce 500 thousand tones of nitric acid a year and will reduce the energy consumption by 18 times.

These two plants alone will decrease the cost price of nitric fertilizers to 30%.

-These numbers are the most hard and at the same time the most respectful work of thousands of hardworking and noble-minded workers and highly qualified specialists of enterprise, – said Shavkat Mirziyoyev and thanked the public staff.

With the pressing of symbolic button The Head of State gave a start to the production of nitric acid, ammonia and urea in the plants.

On December 28, 2019 the complex of polyvinyl chloride, caustic soda and methanol production were commissioned.

Nowadays the constructing of the second polyvinyl chloride plant started. The project worth $400 million will increase the capacity of polyvinyl chloride production from 100 thousand to 220 thousand a year, caustic soda production from 75 to 165 thousand tones. In this way, the production of demanded products worth $210 million a year in electrotechnical, furniture and construction industry, in production of household chemicals and other spheres will be restored. It is scheduled for completion in 2023.

It is also important that on the basis of this enterprise it is planned to create a large integrated chemical-technological plant on the basis of «Navoiazot» and the Electrochemical Plant.

President has emphasized the potentials and possibilities of the mentioned association.

- In the coming years 23 projects for $3,4 billion will be implemented in this cluster. The cluster will produce 33 types of high value-added products. In particular, until the end of this year it will start the promotion of two projects for chemical, leather, furniture and building materials industries. The most important thing is that about three thousands new jobs will be created in «Navoiazot», - said the President.  

The economic projects in our country are based on the principles of efficient placement and complementarity. Therefore, by 2030, it is planned to build solar and wind power plants with a total capacity of 8 thousand megawatts, which will save 5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year. This gas will be used to manufacture products with high added value.

- Before, we sold mainly cotton and gas. Now we do not sell abroad, but we process it ourselves. We even purchase if there is necessity. Why? There are more enterprises, more products are being produced, - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In this regard, in the coming years, it is planned to create six chemical-technological clusters, and the first one was the «Navoiazot».

The second cluster will be located in the Bukhara Region where the polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyvinyl acetate (PVA), polypropylene and other polymers will be produced from natural gas. Dozens of modern enterprises for the production of finished goods will be created there.

The third cluster will be built on the basis of the Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex and the Dekhkanabad Potash Fertilizer Plant in the Kashkadarya Region. It will produce the main components of detergents and household chemicals, bimodal polyethylene and other goods.

The fourth cluster based on «Ferghanaazot» will produce varnishes, melamine for furniture and synthetic fibers for the textile industry.

The fifth cluster will be located in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, in Ustyurt. It organizes the production of soda ash, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene and polypropylene.

The sixth cluster in the Tashkent Region will produce monoammonium phosphate, sulphurous carbamide, other phosphorous and nitric mineral fertilizers, protein and detergents.

Thanks to the implementation of these projects, by 2026, the volume of production of chemical products will increase by 3 times compared to the current year and in 2030 will amount to 7% of GDP.

The President emphasized the need for preparation of qualified specialists for the large-scale projects in this area.

For this, a scientific and educational cluster in the field of chemistry will be created in the Ulugbek village in Tashkent. This cluster will include four higher educational institutions and a modern scientific center for chemistry.

President has also laid a capsule in the foundation of a future polyvinyl chloride plant.
