On August 23, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part as a special guest in an extraordinary session of the Collective Security Treaty Organization via video conferencing on the situation in Afghanistan.
The meeting, chaired by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, was also attended by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan and the Secretary General of the CSTO Stanislav Zas.
During the session, there was an extensive exchange of views on the evolving situation in neighboring Afghanistan, as well as the measures, which were taken to respond to challenges and threats to regional stability.
The President of Uzbekistan informed the participants of the meeting about the measures to promote regional security, including the reliable protection and defense of the State border with Afghanistan.
The Leader of our country has noted with satisfaction the productive interaction and rapid exchange of information that has been established with the relevant structures of the States of the region concerned on the Afghan track.
At the end of the summit, it was agreed to continue joint consultations and regular exchange of information on the regional situation.
