On August 17 the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The issues of further development the Uzbek-German multifaceted relations were considered and key aspects of regional interaction were addressed.

A particular attention was paid to the unfolding situation in Afghanistan. It was mentioned that the escalation of military-political tension in this country could have a serious negative impact on the state of regional and international security.

An agreement was reached on close coordination of joint efforts to promote a peaceful settlement of the Afghan problem and maintain the regular political consultations on the situation in the region.

The cooperation on the evacuation of German citizens from Afghanistan will also continue.
