On August 11, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with the presentation of projects to improve the potable water supply in the Surkhandarya Region and create new jobs in the services sector in Tashkent.
Today 46% of the population of Surkhandarya Region does not have access to the centralized potable water supply. The 216 hydraulic structures and more than 3 thousand kilometers of water supply networks in the region need to be repaired. There is an increased mineralization of water in the southern part of the region and the city of Termez.

According to the project, the structures will be erected in the lower part of the reservoir for the pressure damping, purification and distribution of water, from which 361 kilometers of pipelines will be laid to the water distribution units. As a result of the construction of the system, water supply will be improved for 1 million 700 thousand residents of Sariosiyo, Denov, Shurchi, Kumkurgan, Jarkurgan, Bandikhan, Kizirik, Sherabad, Angor, Muzrabod, Termez districts and the city of Termez.
The total cost of the project is estimated at $138 million and is scheduled to be commissioned in 2024.

Tashkent has great opportunities for the development of the field. In particular, in June-December of this year, it is planned to create 415 thousand jobs in the services sector. This figure is expected to be achieved by opening new businesses and 24/7 operating shopping and entertainment streets, stimulating self-employment, leasing premises on the ground floors and in basements. In particular, in June-July, 24 thousand people began to work as self-employed, and another 17 thousand people were employed at new enterprises.
The President gave instructions to introduce this experience in other regions of the country. The importance of formalizing the activities of service providers by amending legislation and providing them with financial preferences was emphasized.
