President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on August 9 with regard to the stable supply of oil and gas to consumers.

The results of the work carried out during the first half of this year on natural and liquefied gas production have been critically reviewed.

The reports of the heads of the Ministry of Energy, joint-stock companies «Uzbekneftgaz», «Uztransgaz» and «Khududgaztaminot» were presented.

The President gave the responsible people of the sphere specific instructions on supplying the branches of the economy and the population with natural gas, liquefied gas and petroleum products in the required volume, giving priority to domestic consumers.

In particular, the objective is to achieve a balance of 32 billion cubic metres of natural gas in the second half of the year, as well as a stable gas supply system, especially in the autumn-winter period. There is a need to define certain measures for each deposit, to ensure the uninterrupted supply of consumers, and to make effective use of the potential of foreign and joint enterprises.

The guidelines have been issued on the competitive involvement of experienced contractors in geological and technical activities and investors in the unused field development.

The forecast for liquefied gas production is 457 thousand tons in the second half of the year and 850 thousand tons according to the results of the year.

Given the rate of growth of the economy and the launch of new gas-chemical projects, demand for natural gas is expected to increase in the next five years. The President stressed that it was already necessary to draw up concrete plans for the development of natural gas resources to meet this need and for the digitization of the energy sector. 

To this end, instructions were given to accelerate the exploration and expand the mineral and raw material base.
