The Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Complex is a huge industrial complex that is comprised of surface and closed deposits, metallurgical and cement plants and an extensive mining and processing infrastructure. This complex accounts for 7% of industrial production and 15% of our country’s exports. A number of new deposits have been discovered and production has increased as a result of the attention paid in recent years.
Among them is the «Yoshlik-1» deposit. An investment project for $4 billion 894 million is being implemented for its development. It was launched in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated March 1, 2017.
During the familiarization, the President was informed about the potential of the deposit and the work being done to develop it.
65 million tons of ore will be mined at the deposit with an area of 11 thousand hectares per year. It is planned to build the third copper-beneficiating plant with a processing capacity of 60 million tons of copper-molybdenum ore. A lime plant, a 650-megawatt power system and other infrastructure facilities will also be constructed.
Over the past four years, the project has carried out modern geologic study and excavation of more than 83 million cubic meters of soil. More than 570 special vehicles for $415 million were involved.
This major project is expected to be commissioned in 2024 and create a total of 6,000 jobs.
