Dear compatriots!
On this blessed day, when our hearts are filled with elevated feelings, I warmly congratulate the Muslims of our country, our entire nation on the ‘Eid al-Adha’ holiday, a symbol of peace and gratitude, kindness and mercy, and express my deepest respect and best wishes to you.
On behalf of the people of Uzbekistan, I sincerely greet and congratulate the entire Islamic Ummah of the world, our foreign friends and partners, who are joyfully welcoming this holy holiday.
This year the holiday is taking place on the eve of the glorious historic date – the 30th Anniversary of Independence of our Homeland, which gives it even greater spiritual strength and significance.
The aspiration to live in peace and harmony, to work diligently in an independent country for the great purpose is in tune with the humanist nature of our sacred religion.
In recent years, thanks to the selfless work of our people, as well as in all other spheres, the enormous work has been carried out to revive and develop our sacred religion and national spiritual values.
At the new stage of the development of our country, a great deal of attention is drawn to the in-depth study of the richest scientific heritage of the outstanding thinkers, dignified continuation of traditions imbued with noble ideas of our religion.
Establishment of the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, the Center of Islamic Civilization in Uzbekistan, international research centers of Imam Bukhariy, Imam Termiziy, Imam Moturidiy, the Mir Arab Madrassah, establishment of schools of the hadith, qalam, fiqh and Sufism, the construction and restoration of dozens of new mosques and places of worship – all this indicates the extent of work in this direction.
Today in Uzbekistan, along with the legitimate rights and freedoms of citizens, their needs in the religious filed are also fully met. In this regard, it should be emphasized that the amended Law «On freedom of conscience and religious organizations» was recently adopted.
Dear compatriots!
One of the most important principles of establishing peace and tranquility in society is social and religious tolerance. In our country, the representatives of different confessions live as one family, in a spirit of friendship and harmony, make a worthy contribution to the prosperity of our Homeland common to all. This is our greatest asset.
As you know, our people over the centuries have acquired a unique experience of harmonious development of secular and religious knowledge. The practical demonstration of this is the priceless heritage of our prominent scientists and thinkers who have left a vivid mark in world history with their outstanding scientific discoveries, spiritual and educational thinking.
Today, there are new opportunities for in-depth study of this rich heritage.
I am convinced that our wise and noble nation, effectively using this knowledge in the upbringing of a harmoniously and spiritually developed generation, will surely achieve its ambitious goals.
Dear compatriots!
In the current challenging times of pandemic, the proposal of life-wise ulamahs (‘religious instructors’) to observe the religious rituals by our compatriots at home, within the family, is certainly the right decision aimed at protecting life and health of the people.
On these glorious holiday days, we all ask the Almighty to support us in overcoming the difficult trials that the entire humanity is currently experiencing.
I once again sincerely congratulate you on the sacred holiday of ‘Eid al-Adha’, and wish You a sound health, happiness, peace and well-being, as well as prosperity to your families.
May the Almighty always protect our nation!
May peace and tranquility always prevail in our home – Uzbekistan!
Shavkat Mirziyoyev,
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan
