The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) Olga Algayerova, who is participating at a High-Level International Conference in Tashkent.

The President noted with satisfaction the rapid development of the partnership with the UN institutions, which in recent years has reached a completely new level. Appreciation for the assistance of the Organization in promoting reforms in our country was expressed.

Olga Algayerova extended the warm greetings and words of support of the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to the President of Uzbekistan.

The growing prominence of our country on the global stage, broad support by the international community for the initiatives of the Leader of Uzbekistan, including the strengthening of the interconnectedness of the regions of Central and South Asia, were emphasized.

Olga Algayerova encouraged the adoption of the resolution of the UN General Assembly on declaring the Aral Sea region a zone of environmental innovations and technologies, as well as the Chairmanship of Uzbekistan in the UN Special Programme for Economies of Central Asia (SPECA).

During the meeting, the prospects for increasing the mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and the ECE to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals and overcome the consequences of the pandemic, including in the field of economy, trade and transport, innovation, ecology and other areas, were discussed.
