Today, as a part of the Tashkent International Conference, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.

It was especially noted that thanks to the regular contacts at the top-level, the multifaceted Uzbek-Turkmen relations of good-neighborliness and strategic partnership continue to gradually strengthen.

Rashid Meredov conveyed the warm greetings and wishes of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to our President. The initiatives of the Leader of Uzbekistan to develop regional connectivity in Central and South Asia were highly appreciated.

The issues of further expansion of practical cooperation between the two countries were considered. The importance of holding the next meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission was noted.

The course of preparation for the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States was discussed, which is to be held on August 6 this year in the «Awaza» National Tourist Zone.

An exchange of views took place on the unfolding challenging situation in Afghanistan.
