Then the President made the congratulatory speech in honor of June 30 – the Youth Day.
In our country, the priority is given to education and raising of young people, ensuring their rights and interests. A separate state department is organized - the Agency for Youth Affairs. The Youth Union also operates, with it – more than thirty non-state organizations. In all regions, the State program «Youth Is Our Future» and «Five Initiatives» are being implemented by covering various areas.
This year is announced in our country the Year of Supporting Youth and Strengthening Public Health that is also a bright manifestation of attention to the youth.
In the youth policy of the President, there are two major directions: the first is to provide modern education; the second is to provide employment for the youth. These purposes are at the core of the reforms and initiatives of the past few years.
In particular, a new system of presidential, creative and specialized schools has been established to develop the knowledge and talent of young people. In general, the attention to school education, incentives and respect for teachers have increased. The younger generation has more eagerness to learn.
Last year, our youth won 4 gold, 18 silver and 29 bronze medals at international scientific contests. This year, all 96 graduates of the Presidential Schools entered the prestigious foreign universities on a grant basis ahead of the set schedules.
In accordance with the needs of the youth, the number of universities reached 127 and the branches of 26 foreign universities were established. Over the past 5 years, the admission quota to higher education institutions has been tripled, reaching 182 thousand this year. Thus, the total coverage will be 28%. Four years ago, this figure was only 9%.
The increase in government grants from 21,000 to 47,000 and the allocation of special grants to 2,000 girls from low-income families brought joy to thousands of families.
This year another institution of higher education was established – the New Uzbekistan University. In the new academic year, it will receive 300 young people.
The attention and care for the youth is also reflected in ensuring their employment. The number of entrepreneurs under the age of 30 over the past four years has increased five times and exceeded 500 thousand.
As a result of practical work, over the past eight months, 300 billion Uzbek soums have been allocated to tackle the problems of 430,000 young people included in the «youth book». In particular, the state has paid for the tuition fees of more than 2 thousand students from the «iron book».
From this year on, a procedure for compensating employers the sum of the social tax accrued for their employees under the age of 25 years has been introduced. In addition, the introduction of a subsidy of 500,000 Uzbek soums per month for students in vocational and technical schools for 6 months of apprenticeship at the enterprises was a great incentive for young people and their parents.
This year, more than 92 thousand boys and girls were allocated 2,3 trillion Uzbek soums of soft loans for the implementation of entrepreneurial projects. 50 thousand new jobs were created in the framework of 3 thousand projects in the 186 youth industrial and business zones organized in the regions.
Last December, the first Youth Forum was held in our country. This year, the festivals were held in all regions under the motto «Youth of the new Uzbekistan, unite!» About 6 million boys and girls took part in them. One can say that the culmination of the festival is this festive event in the Botanical Garden.
It is symbolic that this holiday takes place on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the independence of Uzbekistan.
In his speech, the President paid a special attention to the further development of the education system and the expansion of youth access to it.
«Every time I meet with you, I do not get tired of repeating one thing: appreciate science and strive for it! As you can see, in the world, the progress belongs to those peoples and states that studied, mastered modern sciences and professions, brought up the younger generation in this spirit. We will take every opportunity for the youth of Uzbekistan to elevate», - said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
In his speech, the President has outlined the priorities for ensuring employment of young people, strengthening patriotic education, supporting art and sports, and social protection of young families.
