On June 23, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with a presentation on the measures to organize the educational process at the New Uzbekistan University.

The availability of highly qualified specialists is crucial for the development and future of any country. In Uzbekistan, which has set for itself the large-scale tasks, attention is paid to the quality of education and staff training on new standards at the level of state policy.

The Presidential and specialized schools are organized in all regions. This, along with strengthening the desire of youth to acquire knowledge and skills, correct choice of a future profession, has strengthened the faith of our compatriots in the success of educational reforms.

The President noted that he sees the educated youth as a «golden fund» of our country. This year a new generation of youth are graduating from schools. On the initiative of the President, the New Uzbekistan University is being established to create the most modern conditions for education.  

The university will be organized in the form of a state higher educational institution, the main tasks of which will be: training promising personnel with high professional skills and competencies based on educational programs of prestigious foreign universities, developing the intellectual abilities of students and creating a comprehensively favorable environment for this.

In pursuing these aims, the educational process at the new university will be organized in cooperation with reputable foreign universities. For instance, the entrance examinations will be administered by the University of Cambridge. The curricula and programs will be jointly developed with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Munich Technical University. The assistance in quality control in education, furnishing laboratories as well as libraries will be provided by these universities.

Five departments such as engineering, applied sciences, management, agro-technology and information technology faculties will be established. Based on the credit-modular system, the academic education will be conducted both in the state and English languages, on scholarship and tuition fee basis.

The educational buildings and campuses of the institution will comply with international BREEAM certificates. The commencement of the first academic year is scheduled for September this year. Until the completion of the construction of the new building, the classes will be temporarily held in vacant buildings of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.

One of the main tasks of the university is also to conduct scientific research based on the needs of economic sectors, the widespread involvement of students in scientific and innovative activities. For this reason, the university will cooperate with the world-leading universities and research centers. A scientific journal will be established.

The President gave instructions on organizing admission and education processes at the level of international standards, ensuring the effective integration of science, education and production.

«The university students from the first year should be assigned to sectors of the economy and research centers. It is important that ministries, reputable institutions and large companies participate in the university board of trustees. They should express their needs, integrate into the educational process, invest in future specialists in advance», Shavkat Mirziyoyev has said.

The President approved the proposed measures and signed a Decree on the establishment of the New Uzbekistan University.

The measures on improvement of the activities of Presidential, specialized and creative schools were also discussed at the presentation.
