The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon visited the «Vahdati Millat» (‘National Unity’) garden in the Gafurov District of the Sughd Region.
The Syrdarya River flows through the Sughd Region – that is the reason why agriculture, especially the production of fruits and vegetables, is widely developed here. The region accounts for almost 43% of the total agricultural production of the country.
The «Vahdati Millat» garden was established in 2008. It covers 700 hectares, 500 out of which are for fruit trees. There is a refrigerating room with a capacity of up to 300 tons.
Since 2018, the fish farming has also been organized. Currently, four ponds are used to breed fish of such species as grass carp, silver carp and carp.
The Uzbek-Tajik cooperation in the field of agriculture is dynamically developing. Many partnership agreements in the agricultural sector were signed following the top-level meetings. In particular, during this visit, our President approved a «road map» for the further development of cooperation in the field of agriculture.
The Presidents got acquainted with the exhibition of agricultural products of Tajikistan organized on the territory of the garden. The responsible executives of the two countries were given instructions regarding the mutual supply of fruit and vegetable products, their storage and export.
This concludes the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tajikistan. The President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon saw off our President at the international airport in Khujand.
