On May 18, the regular plenary meeting of the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly was held.
The first item on the agenda of the session was the consideration of the draft Resolution proposed by Uzbekistan on declaring the Aral Sea region a zone of environmental innovations and technologies.
The initiative to develop and adopt the resolution was put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the 75th Session of the UN General Assembly in September 2020.
The document was approved by the UN member-states unanimously.
It was co-sponsored by about 60 countries from various regions of the world, including Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Turkey, Japan, Pakistan, Iran, India, Egypt, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Jordan, Oman, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Hungary, Romania, Algeria, Paraguay and other countries.
